GOD IS SO FAITHFUL TO US
Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,
It looks like the Covid-19 situation and the rainy season is still well underway in Uganda! Despite the terrible weather in the remote villages and tough Covid-19 current restrictions, we have been able to carry on with everything. We hope that you are well and are continuing to see the Foundation’s commitment to the gardens, farm harvesting, homeschooling program and the 2021 Children’s Bible Program.
We are delighted that “God has been (and is) so faithful to us.” At the beginning of June the government imposed strong rules for Ugandans to follow due to the increased spread of covid-19 in the country. Schools that had reopened were closed and the following week, we resorted to home-based outreaches. We took full advantage of that small window and we were finally able to get in with most of the activities done. We were so glad we did so. It was lovely to be able to have a few days move with colleagues to homes and we shall hopefully conduct our mini celebration and women’s mini conference towards end of July, or early August.
We hope and pray that upon easing of restrictions, children will be able to return to school. Both Boys and Girls soccer and dances competition led by the Dream Star dance troupe will possibly be conducted in early September. We believe we shall be able to have a payment towards the first phased purchase of school projects land (preschool to begin with). That still takes faith and praying for you, our supporters. I trust all will be well.
We have hope of establishing and opening a BLCDF Community School and a Child Care/Preparatory Academy – a school that will be run by BLCDF’s Australian and Ugandan based family. The school will have around 200 children from the community as well as over 200 registered children under our care. We long to see these children grow up educated, equipped and empowered to change their communities and this nation. We want to see the chains of generational poverty broken and families living with autonomy and agency, no longer bound by the limitations that come with extreme poverty.
Despite the challenges BLCDF family has recently faced in raising funds, Maree (Australian Based Mama) has taken on a more active role in the leadership of making sure the school gets established. As well as looking strategically at school’s sustainability and improvement (once established), much of the focus has been on making research on the commercial crop (Tomatoes to be grown on a large scale) and the piggery rearing project, coaching and developing the volunteer teachers with hope that they’ll join in the school.
Our Australian and New Zealand friends continue to contribute to the BLCDF foundation’s development and subscribing to our social media platforms. They have made sure, they like and follow the BLCDF’s activities on Facebook, YouTube and website! We know the value and importance of communicating with sponsors and supporters about what is happening here in Ugandan and we’re grateful that we are able to do this.
