Barnabas Legacy Children’s Dream Foundation has a dream to build DREAM STAR Children’s Care Centre in Katunda Village, so that it can provide much needed nurture and care for the orphaned children.
In Uganda, Orphanages are not legal; instead orphaned children are cared for by extended family and other families willing to be carers, under a registered Child Care Organisation. The organisation can also care for the children in a Children’s Care Home /Centre; with the proviso the school holidays the children are cared for in families among the community they live in.
One of the BLCDF’s projects is PROJECT BUILD. This project involves being able to build a permanent Children’s Care Centre, including an BLCDF office. This project will take a few years and is a big DREAM of the Foundation members and the children too! But every DREAM begins with taking steps and that is exactly what the Foundation will continue to do with this dream.
At the end of May, a LAPTOP, PRINTER AND SOFTWARE were purchased with Project Build funds raised by the women of Women ECHO Him Collective, who contributed $1000AU. Thank you ladies for your generous donations! This office equipment was received with great JOY by Pastor Wamala Steven and the BLCDF team on the ground in Katunda Village.
Up to this point Steven had only the use of his mobile phone to carry out the administrative tasks of the Foundation. Ready access to the laptop is making tasks much more efficient, such as the record keeping of each child that is under the care of BLCDF. A ‘Bio’ is created of each child and information kept about their personal and academic progress, so that the children have that information available to them when they are older. Also for those Donors who chose to sponsor a child through our EDUCATION SPONSOR PROGRAM they too can be given the bio information about the treasured child they are sponsoring.
