Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:58

It has been a very full and fulfilling last couple of months for the team at BLCDF. God has placed on our hearts so strongly to love and raise the children under BLCDF’s care, in the ways of the Lord; speaking and building into the dream and dreams that God has placed in their hearts. As the beautiful scripture in 1 Corinthians 15 declares, we remain steadfast and immovable, as we abound in the work of the Lord, knowing that our labor is not in vain.

It was with great excitement that the BLCDF website was launched in August. The website provides a wonderful space to keep up with what the children are doing and what the upcoming plans are. Please do recommend to your friends and family to look at the website and sign up for the Quarterly E-News if they would like to. Over the months of September and October we are running a visual arts competition with the children. A selection of the artwork will be chosen and displayed on the website and our Facebook page.

A Ugandan bank account has been opened for BLCDF which will allow international donors to transfer in US$. There has also been the process of getting the BLCDF’s organisation fully registered, with all the necessary legal requirements. Steven has been incredible in doing this work; it certainly has not been without its challenges (wow sooooooooooooo much paperwork!), but he has been indeed steadfast and immovable in seeing it through to completion. This now makes the way forward in terms of projects and activities and support of the children a lot easier. Thank you, Pastor Steven!

Underneath the umbrella of BLCDF are the Projects of the Katunda PAOG chapter of the Deborah Women in Business Collective. The incredible women of this Chapter in the last month have been learning about the life of Deborah and increasing their understanding and knowledge about what is needed to run and grow a business. The first projects to begin will be Crops (maize, beans and more!) and Micro Gardening (vegetables, herbs, spices).

Two acres of land has been hired for the Crops and the clearing of the land, ready for planting, is underway. The Micro Gardening will take place in the land area that surrounds the Church building. The harvest from these Projects will be distributed to households that have BLDCF children in their care. In addition, some of the harvest will be sold at the local markets to generate income for the other needs of BLCDF and the DWIBC.

A further 20 blankets, plus some soap and sugar packs were also purchased in August and have been distributed to some children and older mamas in the Katunda village. Thank you so much to those who support BLCDF, your donations are so gratefully received. The blankets and other small practical items have been such a blessing in this the rainy season.

As you can read, although we haven’t done a blog post for a couple of months there has certainly been a lot going on and each week further steps are taken! We thank God for his overwhelming faithfulness, mercy and grace. We are in awe of how God has made a way, and continues to make a way, where there seems to be no way.
